Dating App Upward Introduces Sermons for Singles
The Match Group’s faith-based dating app, Upward, now has a new feature to bring together young Christian singles. Called the Sermon Series, the addition is expected to expand the community of believers from both the Millennial and Gen Z generations. The sermons are a collaborative effort between Upward and pastors from different parts of America who deliver insight on topics and challenges that are relevant to the younger generations. The Upward app itself was created for young people to find potential mates based on shared Christian beliefs and values. All denominations are welcome.
To start the series, Upward brought in the founder of Life Church, Senior Pastor Craig Groeschel, to talk about goals in relationships. The sermon explores the idea of using dating apps from a Christian perspective and whether using such platforms would be approved by Christ. Groeschel said that since Jesus approves of all relationships that are based on honoring God, the means of how people meet does not matter. He also said the Upward app is an excellent tool for bringing people together who want a Godly relationship, and that he knew of many such people who had met through dating technology.
The Sermon Series is published through the official Upward blog and is open to both members and non-members of the app. The series will be updated regularly and include sermons from established pastors and those are new with important messages, like Pastor Harrison Guillory of Beaumont, Texas, who speaks about the awareness of Covid-19 vaccines and why it is vital to receive one. In addition, Dr. Lina Abujamra, of the Chicago Power Ministries, talks about issues that affect young women in the Christian faith. The blog is updated with new sermons twice each month, and readers can provide feedback as well as exchange views with other Christians in the comments.
Match Affinity’s Vice President of Marketing and Communications, Alexis Ferarro, said that faith-based dating in the modern age is challenging, and there was a need to expand Upward, adding resources that enhance the app’s mission to bring believers together in loving relationships. She added that the main goal of the Sermon Series is to deliver relevant insights from the most respected leaders in faith, which will help more young people to connect through their shared values and love of God.
Released in March of 2020, Upward is the most popular dating app for Christians in the United States. Formerly known as FTH, Upward is a part of the Match Group of dating platforms. It was founded with a mission to connect young people of faith with those who are like minded.
